Signs That We Do Not Drink Enough Water!
All health experts say that the need to drink enough water is crucial for the health of the body. Although water needs vary from person to person, there are some signs that indicate that we should drink more water.
The most general recommendation is to drink eight glasses of water a day. Of course, in the summer during the hot weather, you may need more. In winter during the cold weather, it will take less. After intensive workout and sweating, again more water intake is advisable. If you usually sit or have less everyday activities, you need less water and so on. Investing in a water filter is a great way to encourage you to drink more as it removes things from your drinking water you’d rather not be putting in your body and it also saves a lot of money on buying bottles of water while still achieving a similar taste.
Still, there are several signs that indicate that you need more water. If you do not have a clear sense of thirst, they can help for your better orientation on how much water you should drink daily.
Your skin is dry. About 65% of our body consists of water, so that water intake affects the whole body, especially on the largest organ – the skin. Dry skin means that you are sweating less. Sweating is, however, one of the main ways of detoxifying the body. If you drink more water, it will undoubtedly improve the condition of your skin and eliminate the toxins from your body through sweat.
Dry eyes.
Studies show that insufficient intake of water badly affects the eyes. Among other things, the tear ducts are dried, and the eye is not wet enough, resulting in tingling or bloody eyes. In the long run, dehydration (insufficient intake of water) can even damage the eyesight.
Dry mouth.
You may have noticed that you have dry mouth when doing some exercising or sports activities. This is because you are dehydrated. If your mouth is dry, do not drink carbonated or sugary drinks; simply drunk clean, fresh water.
Feeling tired.
The causes of fatigue can be different – not enough calories, stress, and hormonal imbalance. But dehydration – insufficient intake of water is one of the major factors of fatigue. The explanation is the following: lack of water in the blood means fewer oxygen levels in the body, and lack of oxygen is known as a cause of fatigue.
The muscles are slowly recovering.
Faster recovery of muscles allows the muscles to develop faster. But dehydration interferes with this process because it encourages inflammation and muscle pains. It is always advisable to drink plenty of water before, during and after physical exertion.
Constantly hungry.
Many people confuse thirst and hunger. And that’s one of the reasons the people are overeating. So, when you are hungry, it does not necessarily mean that you need food. First, try to drink half a glass of water. If you were just thirsty, then you will be no hungrier.
Often suffer from constipation.
It is all right to have constipation occasionally, but it is not okay if it happens often. The shortage of water interferes with the digestion and intestinal movement (peristalsis), which may cause constipation.
You’re thirsty.
Of course, this is the most obvious sign of dehydration. Most people do not know that you are, at the moment when you feel thirsty, already slightly dehydrated. Therefore, do not wait to just get thirsty to drink water. You can, for example, drink a few sips every hour or less.
Rarely urinate.
If you do not go to urinate every 3-4 hours, this means that you do not drink enough water. And if the color of your urine is dark yellow, it means you are already dehydrated. The urine should be almost colorless or very light yellow.
Getting older quickly
. With age, the body’s ability to retain a larger amount of water decreases. This means – as we get older, you need to drink more water. If you do not drink enough water, not only will you look older, but this will weaken your body.
If you have noticed one or more of these signs, it means it is time to start to drink more water.
