5 Foods that help reduce the risk of breast cancer
Some scientists believe that, if you include certain foods in your everyday diet, can significantly reduce the risk of breast cancer. Well, there is no magic formula of course, but healthy eating habits can certainly improve overall health and certain food can be a source of preventative medicine. Some foods have been proven to be powerful fighters against this malicious disease and we have singled out these five foods that should be consumed regularly, in order to keep your health on the right track.
A study published in the Center for Cancer Prevention, says that ellagic acid from pomegranate could protect you from breast cancer by regulating the production of estrogen and preventing the development of malignant cells in the breast.
This fish is a rich source of good fats – omega-3 essential fatty acids and a large number of studies show that women who intake a lot of omega-3 fatty acids are 14% less likely to develop breast cancer, compared to women who are not consuming. If you cannot afford salmon, it can be replaced by other types of fish, which are also rich in essential fatty acids, such as sardines, black cod, and mackerel.
Batata (sweet potato)
Scientists have developed a theory that the carotenoids found in sweet potatoes contain compounds that can regulate the growth and renewal of our immune cells. Besides sweet potatoes, most powerful vegetables containing carotenoids are carrots, pumpkin, and dark green vegetables.
Green tea is rich in polyphenols – antioxidant with a number of positive effects on overall health, including the prevention of breast cancer. A study carried out on 181 women showed that women who drank at least one cup of green tea a day have lower urinary estrogen, an abnormality that increases the risk of breast cancer.

A study of over 2,000 women in China, showed that women who ate 10 grams of mushrooms per day or more, had at least a two-thirds fewer chance to develop breast cancer, compared to those who did not consume mushrooms.
